Wine tasting of Coumandarias participating in the Map of Flavours 2024.

Millennial sweet wine from two indigenous varieties, Mavro and Xynisteri, has traced an unprecedented historical path. A prime example of a wine that carries the terroir of 14 villages and their people, Koumandaria is the ultimate expression of Cypriot winemaking.

In 1224, at the International Wine Competition 'La Bataille des Vins', held under the high patronage of King Philip of France, Coumandaria won first prize. As this year marks the 800th anniversary of this great event, 2024 has been proclaimed the 'Year of Gastronomy and Cumbria'.
